KnightLight is a chess education and cognitive wellness company dedicated to bridging generations through chess. We specialize in after-school chess programs for students and cognitive therapy-based chess instruction for seniors in nursing homes.
KnightLight isn’t just another chess initiative—it’s a fresh idea, a bold vision, and a way to connect generations through the game of chess. I’m Thomas Watson, the founder of KnightLight. Chess has been a defining part of my life—as a competitor, educator, and advocate for its deeper purpose. I was the high school chess champion of Louisiana and have spent over six years teaching the game, but I know that chess is more than just a battle of strategy. It’s a bridge between minds, experiences, and generations.
KnightLight is still in its early stages, but it’s built on the belief that chess has the power to unite people in ways few other things can. This isn’t a polished, corporate initiative—it’s a passion project turning into something real, something meaningful. I started KnightLight because I saw a gap that no one was filling. Schools teach chess. Nursing homes need cognitive engagement. But no one was connecting the two. This is the beginning. Right now, it’s small. But small things grow.
As KnightLight takes its first steps, I want to be upfront:
Chess has always been about more than winning. It’s about thinking ahead, adapting, and finding creative solutions—the same principles that will make KnightLight thrive. If you believe in this mission, join me. Let’s build something that lasts.
Engaging school-based programs that teach students the fundamentals of chess, fostering critical thinking and teamwork.
Tailored chess therapy sessions that provide cognitive stimulation and social interaction for seniors.
Connecting experienced players with beginners to share knowledge and enhance skills.
